Abstract
457,205. Hand-cranks. ENTWISLE & KENYON, Ltd., and WHITELEY, E., Ewbank Works, Accrington, Lancashire. June 4, 1935, No. 16099. [Class 136 (ii)] In a wringing-machine, more particularly of the type adapted to be folded into a cabinet &c., the operating handle or crank is pivoted to the end of the roller shaft in the following manner, so as to permit the handle to be folded inwards. The boss a of the crank A fits over the end of the roller shaft B and is formed with openended slots a<1>, shown in plan in Fig. 2, of a width equal to or greater than the diameter of the shaft. The crank is pivoted to the shaft by a pin b, which passes through the shaft B and is fixed thereto, its ends engaging two narrow slots a2 in the boss a, arranged in a plane at right-angles to the median plane of the slots a<1>, so that by sliding the boss outwards until the end of the shaft is clear of the unslotted part of the boss, the crank can be swivelled upwards and inwards to the inoperative position. The crank is secured in the operative position by a clamping-screw or bolt a passing radially through the boss. In a modification, the pin is fixed to the boss, and the shaft is slotted.
