Abstract
A high-pressure mercury vapour lamp of the kind described in Specification 431,451, [Group XL], is used with a fluorescent layer on the cap of the lantern the layer consisting of Rhodamine B. This is dissolved in a condensation product obtained by heating 3 mol. symmetric dimethylglycol and 2 mol. of citric acid for 3 hours at 150 DEG C. and then 3 hours at 180 DEG C. After cooling down 4 kgs. of this product is dissolved in 4 kgs. acetone in which mixture 10 grs. of the rhodamine is dispersed, this mixture being then applied to the cap.
