453,549. Thermionic cathodes. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI RESZVENYTARSASAG, Ujpest, near Budapest. Nov. 22, 1935, No. 32403. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode is supported by a spring arranged transversely and symmetrically with regard to the plane of the cathode and supported at both ends, the cathode or a support for it being attached between these ends. In one form, the bights of a filament are supported by springs A perpendicular to the plane of the filament which are secured in holes 11, 12 in an upper mica insulator 10. The ends A1, A2 of the springs are bent over and may be pressed flat if the spring A is round, or they may be bent back on themselves. The portion A3 receiving the filament bight may be oxidized or otherwise insulated. In a modification two cathode bights may be supported from a two-armed lever having its arms insulated from each other and the lever may be supported from the hook A3. The springs may be made of molybdenum, nickel, tungsten, or a heatresisting steel.
