Abstract

452,459. Machine-gun fire-control. SOC. ANON. DES ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS HOTCHKISS & CIE, 60, Quai Michelet, Levallois-Perret, and BOUSSEL, L. A., 8, Rue St. Guillaume, Courbevoie, both in Seine, France. May 1, 1935, No. 12990. [Class 92 (ii)] [See also Group XXVIII] Fluid-pressure or suction power means for operating at a distance the triggers 2, Fig. 1, of a number of machine guns 1<1>, 1<2> comprises a relay, such as 6, which includes a single distributer 10, Fig. 2, controlled by a single handle 9, and a plurality of motor means 18 controlled by the distributer for imparting to the triggers the control movement of the handle. In tho form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 applied to aircraft guns, the relay-motors 18 are assembled with their distributer 10 and act at a distance on the machine guns by Bowden wires 4. The distributer, in the form of a piston valve 12, controls the inlet of compressed air from a supply pipe 14 to two piston-andcylinder motors 17, 18, only one of which is shown. The valve is actuated by a Bowden wire 7 from a handle 9 on the aircraft controlcolumn 3. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the motors 17, 18 are mounted on the machine guns and are connected to the distributer 10 by pipe lines 22 controlled by cut-off cocks 71 which permit of selecting the gun or guns to be fired. Fig. 7 shows a motor having inlet and exhaust poppet-valves 26, 30 operated by a lever 31 actuated from the Bowden control 7. The return springs 19 of the pistons 17 of the motors shown in Figs. 2 and 7 may be dispensed with by making the motors double-acting. Single-acting or double-acting suction motors may replace the pressure motors shown. Specification 442,847 is referred to.
