Abstract

Y.].-(Philadelphia Storage Battery Co. ; Ontario Street, Philadelphia, U.S.A.) Dec. 24, 1934, Nos. 36972/34 and 1943/35. [Class 40 (v)] For reception over a wide frequency-band, the aerial inductance coil A is situated nearer to one end of the aerial line than the other. It is tapped through condensers C1, C2 to a low-impedance transmission line which terminates in a tapped coil B, one end of which is earthed whilst the other end goes to the aerial terminal on the set. The downlead wires are also connected through condensers C3, C4 to the outer ends of the inductance A, the resulting network being resonant to a wide frequency range. Fig. 2 shows the wave-band switching at the input to the receiver, the terminals c1, d1 corresponding to the terminals c, d of Fig. 1. The switch x feeds the signal voltage from the coil B to various tappings 1 ... 4 on the input transformer T to the first valve V. The waveband switch may be ganged to a similar switch y controlling the tuning of the local-oscillator valve.
