Abstract
450,782. Feeding sheets. BISHOP, E. L., 44A, Deritend, Birmingham. March 21, 1935, No. 8817. [Class 100 (i)] A device for separating sheets of cardboard, or the like upon a conveyer, comprises a resiliently mounted roller a, a deflector member h adapted to bear upon a feed roller or conveyer e, which may be of the kind described in Specification 450,781, and a stop member d which is adjustably carried by screws d<1>, d<2> so as to be capable of being set from the roller or conveyer a distance equal to the thickness of the board. For dealing with a stack of boards g, an adjustably inclined deflector plate h is used, and the yieldable roller a is carried by an arm a<1> pivoted to a bracket b and provided with an adjustable stop a<4> for limiting its motion due to the action of a compression spring c. The feed rollers e, e<1> may be provided with one or more longitudinal ribs so as to vibrate the boards simultaneously with their engaging the deflector and thus spread the boards rearwardly as shown. A spring-pressed roller i assists the forwarding of the separated sheet. The roller a may be dispensed with and a deflector plate j arranged as shown in Fig. 7 in combination with a stop d arranged above the feed roller e.
