Abstract
<PICT:0450105/III/1> In the method of producing partially oxidized lead powder by abrading lead in an oxidizing zone and removing and separating the powder, the oversize particles are returned automatically to the zone for further treatment. As shown, the drum 19 revolves in a stationary casing 13 connected by ducts 14 to an air sifter. Each end of the drum is provided with a grating 30 and a spiral conveyer 37. Metallic lead is fed through a hollow trunnion 21 to a central feed pipe 24 provided with opposed feed screws 26 which discharge the lead through a central opening 25<a>. A sieve 33 and perforated plate 35 form a chamber around the grating 30, the fine material falling into hoppers 34 whilst the coarse material is returned to the feed pipe 24 by the conveyers 37. The screens 33 may be tapped by beaters. The lead is oxidized by friction or heated air.
