Abstract
449,178. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, and WALDEN, H. W. W., 6, Cranhurst Road, Cricklewood, both in London. Dec. 21, 1934, No. 36665. [Class 40 (v)] A beat-frequency oscillator, suitable for measuring and testing purposes, comprises two different sets of backcoupled electrodes in the same valve. The electrodes 2, 4, 7 are backcoupled at 9, and the electrodes 3, 16, 2 at 20. The two electrodes 12, 13 are connected together and act as a screening grid, whereby the two generated frequencies are mixed by electron coupling. The resulting beat frequency is tapped off at 23 from the anode resistance 22, or from a transformer output. Preferably, the circuit 5, 6 has a fixed frequency whilst 17, 18 is adjustable, though both these circuits may be variable. The valve shown may be replaced by a two-stream triode-hexode.
