448,970. Sewing-machines. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH, 28, Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, London.-(International Button Hole Sewing Machine Co. ; 500, Harrison Avenue, Boston, U.S.A.) Aug. 8, 1935, No. 22424. [Class 112] In order to render a buttonhole-sewing machine readily adaptable for cutting holes of various sizes, with or without eyes at the end, cutter elements of various lengths and shapes are accurately positioned on carriers which are readily inserted into or removed from a socket on the machine. The socket member 24 is clamped to the bed of the machine by screws 27 and has a hole 37 for the shank 36 of the cutter carrier 28, and positioning shoulders 38, 39 for the sides of the carrier. Knives 21 of different lengths to cut straight slits or having an end punch for cutting eyedslits, are positioned accurately in the carriers 28 by lateral clamping screws 31 and a longitudinal clamping screw 34. To change the buttonhole cutter, the carrier 28 with its cutter is removed from the socket 24 and substituted by a carrier upon which is mounted the cutter of desired shape and size.
