448,945. Carrier tricycles. WELLER, J., Old Vine Cottage, West Horsley, Surrey. Dec. 19, 1934, No. 36372. [Classes 136 (i) and 136 (iii)] In a carrier cycle of the type in which a motor bicycle or like two-wheeled vehicle is converted into a tricycle by replacing the front wheel by a two-wheeled luggage or passenger carrying attachment the supporting wheels of which are steered from the bicycle steering-head such supporting wheels are mounted on approximately vertical swivels or steering-heads attached directly to the frame of the attachment. The attachment comprises a low frame A having members extending backwards for adjustable attachment by clamps &c. to the lower central part of the bicycle frame, as, for example, to a cross-bolt C carrying the footrests D, the frame A being also connected to the steering-head F by a pair of upwardly-extending members M. The wheels Bare mounted on vertical spindles, which may telescope under spring control in sockets K carried by side extensions L and are actuated for steering by arms connected to a divided track-rod J coupled to an arm on the lower end of a downward extension E of the steering-stem. A luggage-box N is supported on the frame A by coil springs P and leaf springs R.
