Abstract
Artificial silk of reduced lustre is obtained by adding to the spinning solution titanium dioxide and a chromium compound. Suitable mixtures of titanium dioxide and a chromium compound may be obtained by treating the titanium dioxide with a solution of a chromium compound, mixing titanium dioxide with an insoluble chromium compound, or precipitating an insoluble chromium compound on the titanium dioxide. The delustring agent obtained may be added to viscose or to a cellulose acetate spinning mass, which is then spun in the usual way. In the former case an improved fastness of the dyeings in the wet state, and in the latter case a general improved light fastness to dyeings, is obtained. Examples are given.
