Abstract
447,796. Roller feeds for woodworking machines. WHITE, T., Laighpark Works, and CHRISTIE, W. T., 91, Greenock Road, both in Paisley. March 26, 1935, No. 9372. [Class 145 (i)] In a woodworking machine having two pairs of upper and lower feed rolls between which the work is fed to the tool or tools, the two lower rolls b being fixed in position and the two upper rolls d being carried by pivoted arms e and normally held in contact with the work either by their own weight or by added weights upon the arms or levers, one or more pairs of auxiliary rolls g, h are interposed between the two pairs of upper and lower rolls. The lower auxiliary roll or rolls g may be vertically adjustable. The upper auxiliary roll or rolls h may be vertically adjustable and may be spring-pressed. As shown, the roll h is carried by a plunger i which slides in a sleeve k vertically adjustable on the machine frame ; the plunger i is pressed down by a spring n, the tension of which is adjustable by a hand-wheel m.
