Abstract
447,356. Bridles. WOOD, H. R. W., Lanhill, Chippenham, Wiltshire. July 29, 1935, No. 21545. [Class 62] In a bit particularly suitable for training horses the mouthpiece 1 is slidably mounted in the cheek-rings 3 between a pair of bars 4 which are normally horizontal, and the cheek-rings are integrally connected by a curved bar 6 passing beneath the lower jaw and are provided with inward projections 7, Fig. 4 or with peripheral slots 7<1>, Fig. 5 to enable the points of attachment of the headstall 8 and nose-band 9 to be varied. The cheek-rings receive also a throat-strap carrying a ring 12 through which the side-reins 13 pass and to which may be attached a bearing rein 15 and a martingale 14. Rings 2 at the ends of the mouthpiece receive the ordinary riding reins. The upper part of the cheek-rings 3 may be flared outwardly as in Fig. 3, and eyelets 11 may be provided for the reception of a cheek-lace to prevent bucking.
