Abstract

446,471. Cleaning-pads for footwear. WILSON, J. M., Craigiehall, Dumbreck, Glasgow. Sept. 14, 1935, No. 25567. [Class 19] A device for cleaning footwear comprises a cleaning pad C impregnated with suitable cleaning material and a polishing pad H fitting, at opposite ends of a hollow cylindrical foundation or holder A, into two cavities D formed by the partition C. The holder, which is provided with two caps E to cover the pads and a circumferential rib B to separate the caps, can be stamped out of metal or made of artificial resin. The cleaning pad, which is of felt, is mounted on a tray F, which is removably secured to the holder by pressing into one of the cavities D. The polishing pad comprises a felt pad covered with a piece of pile fabric J secured in position by means of two trays K and M which fit one within the other and firmly grip the fabric. This pad is pressed or screwed into the other cavity D which may be provided with a screw thread.
