Abstract
445,784. Stand heads. BILLING, N. P., 6, Lower Regent Street, London. Oct. 17, 1934, No. 29756. [Class 52 (v)] [See also Group XX] A stand attachment for use in making panoramic or stereoscopic photographs comprises an element, e.g. an arm pivotallv connected, detachably or not, to the camera body and means, e.g. screwthreaded recesses, for securing the element rigidly to a stand, e.g. a tripod head, or securing it for rotation relatively thereto, the latter means being offset from the pivotal axis of the element. Instead of directly connecting the element to the stand, an adapter comprising two parts capable of relative rotation through 180‹ and secured respectively to the element and to the stand may be used. In the form shown, an arm 13 is secured to the underside of the camera 12 by a pivot bolt 15 and has screw-threaded recesses 16, 17 at opposite ends. A recess 29 in the arm 13 carries a spring-pressed ball 31 engaging corresponding recesses in the camera. For panoramic photography, one part 20 of an adapter is screwed into the recess 16 and to the tripod head 19 and the camera is moved on the pivot 15 into a set of positions determined by the ball 31 and recesses on the camera. For stereoscopic photography, the second part 21 of the adapter is screwed into the recess 17 and placed over the part 20, a pin 26 on the part 21 moving in a cutaway groove 28 in the part 20. The arm can then be moved through 180‹, the camera being turned simultaneously to keep the direction of the optical axis the same in both positions. The parts 20, 21 may be screwed into sockets in the camera body when not in use. Specification 423,035, [Group XX], is referred to.
