445,151. Rasping-apparatus. MANTELET & BOUCHER, 11, Rue Jules Ferry, Bagnolet, Seine, France. May 13, 1935, Nos. 14065 and 14066. Convention dates, May 17, 1934 and Jan. 17, 1935. [Class 59] [See also Group VI] A sieve for use in hashing, mashing and rasping devices has apertures 19, Fig. 6, in the shape of a polygon of more than three sides with at least one wedge-shaped portion and arranged to form series separated by at least two parallel bands 21, the adjacent apertures of each surface being separated by strips 23 which meet the bands at an angle other than a right angle. As shown in Fig. 7 one side of each aperture is formed with notches separated by a tooth. The apertures shown in Fig. 8 have notches in opposite sides. The sieve may take the form of a surface of revolution and is applicable to devices in which the material under treatment is forced against the sieve by rotating blades, which contact with the sieve. Fig. 10 shows a sieve for grating cheese in the form of a cylinder which is rotated, the cheese being pressed down in a hopper 26 by a member P.
