Abstract

444,860. Rugs. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON, CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Aug. 27, 1935, No. 24001. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1934. [Class 142 (iv)] [See also Group XI] In an electrically-heated rug having fabric piles 10 secured to an interwoven thread backing 12, 13, a resistance wire 14 is arranged in convolutions 16 which are unequally spaced to vary the heating at different zones. The wire 14 may be helically wound on a core 17 of asbestos or cotton, and is attached to the woven backing which has previously been impregnated with rubber. A sheet of rubber 15b'is then applied over the wire, and the whole vulcanized together. In a modification, the resistance wire may be interwoven with the backing, and the whole impregnated with rubber.
