Abstract
442,512. Signs. ADLER, B. H., 5119, Kimbark Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. July 3, 1934, No. 19598. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1933. [Class 3 (ii)] Letter-units for a sign comprise a base formed with an aperture shaped as the letter and a rear rib extending around the outline of the aperture to prevent water passing from the back to the front of the letter. Figs. 2 and 3 show an embodiment in which a letter comprises a base 2 with an aperture shaped as the letter, and a bevelled portion 3 extending around the front of the aperture and provided with an integral rear rib 13. A glass plate 15 is supported behind the aperture by lugs 7, 8, 9, 10, and passages 14 in the rib permit water to pass from the front of the aperture to the back of the letter. Each letter is provided with an inverted U-member 6 for engaging a support, and two or more letters are secured together by a flange 4 engaging in recessed lugs 5 on an adjacent letter. The lugs 7, 8, 9, 10 may be omitted and a single glass sheet provided to extend across several letters.
