Abstract

442,484. Attachments for turning. LARSSON, K., Trollhõttan, Sweden. Aug. 8, 1935, No. 22443. [Class 83 (iii)] A lathe has a separate headstock 19, mounted on the bed adjacent the usual headstock 1 or in lieu thereof, which carries a spindle 23 driven at a speed which is a multiple of the speed of the usual spindle, the feed movements of the tool being derived from the lathe independently of the separate headstock, thus rendering the lathe suitable for use with diamond turning tools. A separate electric motor drive 20 may be employed or the drive to the usual headstock may be used with the interposition of suitable gearing. A friction brake 26 for the spindle 23, Fig. 2, of the separate headstock is applied by hand lever pivoted at 28 which also carries a switch which brakes and stops the motor.
