Abstract
442,044. Automatic guns. STACK, I. I., 18, Vartavagen, and LINDFORS, A. T., 5, Grevturegatan, both in Stockholm. Nov. 22, 1934, No. 33614. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1933. [Class 119] Relates to gas-operated guns having a tilting breech-block 1 connected to the gas-piston 17 by a link 6 pivoted to the breech-block and the piston. According to the invention, the link is extended beyond the pivot 13 on the breechblock to form a cam-lever which tilts the breech-block away from its locking abutment 2<1> on the breech casing 2 and then engages by its cam surface 14 an abutment on the casing to retract the breech-block and unseat the cartridge case without shock. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the cam surface 14 bears against a crosspiece 15 bridging the upper and lower parts of the breech casing, which crosspiece is loosely mounted on the breech-block and moves rearwardly therewith. When the parts have returned to locked position, the link 6 engages the rear end of the firing pin 19 and moves the pin forward for firing. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the link 6 occupies a raised position and its cam surface 14 engages an abutment 55 on the upper part of the breech casing. The firing pin is operated by a spring- pressed head 61 connected to the gas piston 17. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a statement in general terms that the invention may be applied to guns having a sliding barrel and to guns operated by inertia weights. To facilitate manufacture, the breech casing 2 is made of steel tubing united by a front stirrup member x to the tube forming the gas cylinder. A rear stirrup member y has a detachable bolt for hingeing the stock, to permit of ready withdrawal of the parts from the rear. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
