441,560. Crushing, pressing, or cutting ice, fruit, &c. ALUMINIUM, Ltd., Canada Life Building, Toronto, Canada.-(Assignees of Matter, J. K., and Geiger, L. E.) July 30, 1934, No. 22205. Convention date, July 29, 1933. [Class 59] [See also Groups I and VI] In a portable press for crushing ice &c. comprising a plunger movable toward and from a grid, the members forming the grid are relatively thin and are provided with pointed teeth, the plunger having recesses to receive the teeth and projections adapted to enter the grid apertures to force the smaller pieces of ice therethrough. An open-ended receptacle 7 is supported by a column 5 on a base 1 and is provided with grooved recesses 9 on the inside to receive spiked bars 11 of which two are slotted at the bottom and two at the top so that they interengage to form a grid. The attachment of the plunger 22 to the handle 15 is preferably as described in Specification 443,625. The underside of the plunger is recessed to take over the bars 11 and spikes 35 in the lowermost position of the plunger and thereby enter the recesses between the grid to eject broken ice &c. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also vegetable dicers or fruit squeezing attachments which may be inserted in the frame opening or substituted for the grid. The undersurface of the plunger may also comprise a plain surface. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
