Abstract

441,047. Endless - track vehicles. FETTVERSORGUNGS AKT.-GES., 8, Deichthorstrasse, Hamburg, Germany. May 18, 1935, No. 14617. Convention date, April 27. [Class 79 (i)] An endless-track device for conveying perambulators and other loads in a horizontal position up stairs or inclined surfaces comprises a lower endless-track frame 4 and an upper load-carrying frame 6 connected together by pairs of levers 9, 10 which can be collapsed or held by a locking device in their operative positions. In the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 6, tracks 3 pass over end pulleys 2 on the frame 4 and also over balls or rollers 5 mounted in channels in the underside of the frame. The perambulator or other load is secured to the upper frame 6 by adjustable devices 26, and the frame may have a telescopic adjustment. The frames are connected together by levers or links 9, 10 pivoted thereto, and the upper frame is secured in the raised position shown by means of an arm 11 pivoted to the base frame 3 and having a spring hook or other device adapted to engage the pivot shaft 12 of the link 10 to the frame 6. The arm 11 may be locked in the operative position by means of a stirrup 17. Rollers 24, larger than the end pulleys 2 of the tracks, are provided at one end of the base frame so that the device may be wheeled over level ground on these rollers alone. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the upper ends of the links 9 slide in slots in the frame 6, the links 10 are formed as toggle links 14, 15, and the weight of the load on the upper frame 6 causes rollers 18 on this frame to bear on the upper run of the endless track and act as a brake.
