Abstract
440,292. Portable pipe-cutters. PASS, E., Station Works, Denton, Lancashire. Nov. 5, 1934, No. 31675. [Class 83 (iii)] In apparatus for cutting pipes in which is provided an adjustable support adapted to carry cutter mechanism and to be fitted about a pipe, the support b is characterized in that it is pivotally mounted on an adjustable block a<3>, Fig. 5, located in a saddle structure a, which is removably fixed to the pipe, and is adapted to be clamped in adjusted position about the pipe by bolt and slot or like means. The saddle a is fixed to the pipe in the usual manner by chains, and the adjustable block is arranged in a vertical guideway with a screw a<4> for adjustment, a pivot a<5> on the block pivotally carries the cutter support b which is adapted to embrace the pipe and to be clamped in its adjusted position by nuts and bolts which loosely engage the slots a<6> in the block, further clamping devices b<6> being provided around the support. The three cutters c<1> are mounted for radial sliding movement in a ring having sprocket teeth for rotation from a hand crank d<2>, feed of the cutters being effected by the " kicker " devices C<2>, C<3>.
