Abstract
440,219. Junction boxes. ROBINSON, W. G. M., 7, Bowling Green Street, and WITCOMB, F. L., 55, Dulverton Road, both in Leicester. Aug. 20, 1934, No. 23969. [Class 38 (i)] An insulated junction box consists of a base 1 and a cover 2 so formed that when secured together they clamp the entering cables between them in apertures provided with transverse ribs. The base may have an upstanding wall 3 to locate the cover and at the middle of its sides this wall may be made thinner and may extend upwardly in the form of a thin lug. These wall portions 3a normally shield cut-away parts of the cover but may be broken off to allow reception of the cable. The recesses 11 in the cover may be provided with a flange 13 to increase the grip on the cable and both the recesses and the walls 3 are ribbed alternately for the same purpose. The cover may be held to the base by a central screw 9.
