Abstract
Azo dyes insoluble in water are made by coupling in substance or on a substratum diazotized 1-amino-2-nitro-4-benzotrifluoride with b -naphthol, an acylacetic arylide or a pyrazolone derivative (no SO3H or COOH or other solubilizing group). They are fast to oils and light. In examples dyes from the following coupling components are specified: (1) b -naphthol, (2) acetoacetic anilide, (3) 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. Specifications 9633/10, 210,347, [both in Class 2 (iii)], and 361,097 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 specifies the following components in a table: 6- or 8-chloro-2-naphthol, acetoacetic-o-chloranilide or m-xylidide, benzoylacetic anilide, o-chloranilide, m-nitranilide or 2-methoxy-4-chloro-5-methylanilide, 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-methyl-3-phenyl-5-pyrazolone, 1 : 3-diphenyl-5-pyrazolone. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. 1-Amino-2-nitro-4-benzotrifluoride is made by heating 1-chloro-2-nitro-4-benzotrifluoride with alcoholic ammonia.
