439,614. Railway - vehicle bogies. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE GES., Neuhausen, Schaffhausen, Switzerland. April 15, 1935, No. 11599. Convention date, April 17, 1934. [Class 103 (vi)] [See also Group XXXI] The body or underframe K of a railway vehicle is supported at each end upon a bogie comprising two radiating axles 3, 4 mounted respectively in separate frames 1, 5 which are pivotally connected at a point 8 between the axles, the body being directly supported on the frame 1 by a centre pivot 2, and the. frame 5 being capable of swivelling with respect to the body about a pivot 6, disposed outside the axles. In the construction shown the forward or outer axle 3 is driven by a motor M, and the pivot 6 is capable of sliding in longitudinal guides centrally disposed on the frame 5. The effect on a curve is that the natural displacement of the axle 4 relative to centre line of the vehicle causes a swivelling movement of the frame 5 about the pivot 6 as shown in Fig. 2, and the consequent lateral displacement of the pivot 8 effects a correct steering movement of the driven axle 3.
