Abstract
439,477. Ironing-presses. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Aug. 20, 1935, No. 23389. Convention date, Aug. 23, 1934. [Class 138 (ii)] A small iron 8 is slidably mounted in one of the pressing members 1 of an ironing-press and can be drawn forward so as to project from the pressing member by means of a handle 22 which, when the iron is drawn forward, can be swung through a right-angle to be out of the way. The rear part 7 of the small iron always lies within the press member and always contacts with the lower heated plate thereof, the latter being heated by an electric element 3. The iron is retained in either of its extreme positions by the engagement of a spring 10 carried by a bracket 11 in the press member with one or other of two projections 12, 13 on the top of the iron.
