[Class 44] In a band clip for hose-pipes &c. of the kind in which a screw clamping device is adapted to act on any one of a number of abutments provided along the length of the band to allow a preliminary adjustment of size, the abutments are provided by means of transverse slots 19 in an upstanding arched bead or beads 14 formed centrally along the band, leaving lateral strip portions 15 which bears on the hose-pipe 16. The bead preferably tapers longitudinally so that when the ends overlap, one may rest on the other. As shown, one end of the band is bent up and dished to form a lug 11 with a bush 13 against which the head of a tightening screw bears. The screw engages in a tapped lug member 21 having a hook 24 which engages the selected abutment. The hook is formed on a part which is hollowed at 23 to bridge the bead, the side portions 25, which may be rounded, bearing on the strips 15 to keep the hook clear of the pipe 16. Alternatively, two hooked members may be provided, one replacing the lug 11. The clamping screw may have a left-hand thread and its end may be upset to prevent removal. Modifications are described in one of which the screw engages a threaded sleeve extension carried by the lug, and in the other the screw is fixedly carried by one lug and carries a wing nut bearing against the other. According to the Provisional Specification the abutments may be formed by transverse beads.
