Abstract

438,504. Valve circuits for wireless reception. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.-(Assignees of Roberts, W. Van B.; 155, Hodge Road, Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Feb. 15, 1934, No. 5070. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 16, 1934]. [Class 40 (v)] A superheterodyne receiver includes means for simultaneously varying the high-frequency gain and the strength of the local oscillations applied to the frequency changing stage. The cathode circuits of the radio-frequency and intermediate-frequency amplifiers 1, 5 respectively, include biassing resistances rl, r2 respectively, which are taken to tappings 4, 7 respectively on the fixed portion R2 of a potentiometer connected across the main H.T. supply. The portion R of this potentio-. meter is variable and thus controls the grid bias and amplification of the valves 1, 5. In addition, variation of resistance R also controls the potential at the point 19 on a fixed potentiometer R1 which supplies the anode potential for the local oscillator 8, and hence varies the amplitude of the oscillations produced thereby.
