Abstract
438,090. Microphones. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.- (Assignees of Olson, H. F. ; 920, Stokes Avenue, Collingswood, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Nov. 21, 1934, No. 33527. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1933. [Class 40 (iv)] A pressure - sensitive ribbon microphone, which may be of very small size for suspension from the speaker's lapel, is provided with a coiled or tortuous passageway packed with felt or other damping material, the passageway commencing behind the ribbon and housed within the magnet system. As shown, the microphone comprises a magnet 11 with polepieces 12, diaphragm 10 and a tortuous passage formed by a spiral partition 13. The ribbon 1 is suspended between end plates 15. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), in which the tortuous passage is replaced by a flared tube 16<a> extending across the magnet system and terminating in a tube 16 of uniform crosssection. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
