Abstract
Dye preparations for use in the dyeing of animal fibres are obtained by mixing a metal complex compound of a mordant-dyeing azo dyestuff, containing one or more sulpho groups, with not more than 5 per cent of its weight of a soluble salt of an organic water insoluble nitrogenous base or of an organic quaternary ammonium compound, which base or ammonium compound contains at least one aliphatic or cycloaliphatic residue comprising at least 8 carbon atoms, but contains no polyethenoxy group. Specified dyestuffs are the chromium and copper compounds of azo dyestuffs containing sulpho groups described in Specifications 15456/15, 104,045, 180,433, 207,162, 231,446, 235,862, 257,820, 260,830, [all in Class 2 (iii)], 364,147, and 364,148. In an example, an aqueous solution of 50 parts of the chromium compound of the azo dyestuff from the nitrated diazo compound of 1 : 2-aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid and b -naphthol (cf. Specification 364,147) is mixed with an aqueous solution containing 0,75 parts of the mixture of hydrochlorides of N-dioxypropylimidazoles obtainable by treating with glycerin chlorhydrin the mixture of benzimidazoles, highly alkylated at the m -carbon atom, produced by heating o-phenylenediamine with a mixture of fats from hydrogenated fish oil, coconut oil and olive oil (cf. Specification 419,010), the mixture is evaporated to dryness in vacuo and the residue is powdered. Alternatively the mixing may be effected during the preparation of the dyestuff. The latter may be replaced by the chromium compounds of the dyestuffs 4-chloro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid --> 2 : 4-dioxyquinoline, 4-methyl-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid-->b -naphthol, 4 : 6-dinitro-2-aminophenol --> 1 : 4 - aminonaphthalenesulphonic acid, 4 - nitro - 2 - aminophenol - 6 - sulphonic acid --> b -naphthol or 2 : 1-aminonaphthol-4 : 8-disulphonic acid --> b -naphthol. Specification 403,977 also is referred to.
