Abstract
433,557. Controlling gas compressors. BARBARESCHI, C., 17, Via Brighenti, Milan, Italy. Feb. 19, 1934, No. 5412. [Class 8 (i)] [See also Group XXXIV] A compressor discharges into an auxiliary cylinder containing piston valves 26, 30 and through a passage 29 to the space between these pistons. Rise of pressure lifts the upper piston 30 and opens a byepass 32 to the low-pressure side. The piston 30 is surmounted by a bellows enclosing a spring and open to atmosphere, and the space around this bellows communicates by a port with the inter-piston space. During stoppages, the lower piston is depressed by a spring 27, closing the discharge passage 29 and opening a second byepass 28 so that pressure is relieved at starting. The compressor comprises a cylinder 9 oscillating on trunnions 10, one of which is pressed by a spring 15 to ensure a fluid - tight joint between the cylinder 9 and casing 1. The motion throws oil up into a trough 20 whence a disc 19 rotating on the crankshaft throws it up, part falling into a channel 21 and being delivered to the bearings.
