Novel compounds, which are homologues of jasmon, or hydrogenation products of jasmon and its homologes, and have the general formulae <FORM:0430930/IV/1> or <FORM:0430930/IV/2> and may be prepared by methods described in the literature for other members of these series are 3 - methyl - 2 - n - butylcyclopentanone - 1, 3 - methyl - 2 - n - heptylcyclopentanone - 1, 3 - methyl - 2 - n - butylcyclopentene - 2 - one - 1, 3 - methyl - 2 - n - hexylcyclopentene - 2 - one - 1, 3-methyl- 2 - n - heptylcyclopentene - 2 - one - 1, 3 - methyl - 2 - i - propylcyclopentene - 2 - one - 1, and 3 - methyl - 2 - i - butylcyclopentene - one - 1. The known compounds 3-methyl-2-n-amylcyclopentene - 2 - one - 1 and 3 - methyl - 2 - n - amylcyclopentanon-1 may also be prepared by reduction of jasmon.
