429,980. Vehicle wheels. GERBER, F., Thunstotten, Switzerland. Nov. 12, 1934, No. 32570. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1933. [Class 144 (i)] A tractor wheel is fitted with grippers 8, arranged in axially-spaced and staggered sets, which are moved into and out of operative positions by corresponding sets of cams 16 on a sleeve 15 rotatable on the wheelhub 12. The cam sleeve is actuated, from the driver's seat, by a slidable sprocket 27 keyed to the axle-sleeve 25 and a train of gears 23, 22, 21. The grippers are normally urged towards the wheel centre by springs 9.
