Abstract

429,526. Stringing rackets. SIEFF, S. H., 30, Mildmay Park, and PRITCHARD, A., 48, Peartree Street, Goswell Road, both in London. Feb. 12, 1934, No. 4578. [Class 132 (ii)] A device for gripping a tensioned string on the inside of a racket, in the manner described in Specification 388,793, comprises two members a, b relatively slidable to grip a string f by rotation of a cam d that is carried by the member a and operates on the member b through a pad l and an arm k on which the device as a whole is slidably mounted, operation of the cam serving to lock the device on the arm. The members are normally held in the inoperative position by compression springs q and the pressure applicable to the string is limited by an adjustable stop, (not shown), against which the operating arm c for the cam is adapted to abut. The pad l and a lower pad p may be serrated more firmly to grip the arm k.
