[Class 26] In flushing-apparatus having a receptacle mounted to tilt inside an outer chamber, the complete return to normal position is effected by water flowing into a supplementary part or extension of the receptacle after a predominating portion of the full charge has entered. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the receptacle 7 after being tilted to discharge its contents into an outer chamber having an outlet 2, is returned towards its initial position by a counterweight 21, undue speed being prevented by the resistance of water maintained at a level 6 in the outer chamber. The completion of the return movement is effected by the water admitted through the pipe 15 flowing into an extension 7b. At the end of this movement, the enlargement engages a stop 20, and a cam 19 closes the inlet valve 18. An overflow arrangement comprises a narrow vertical compartment 22 discharging through an outlet 23 and pipe 24. In a modification shown in Fig. 3, a supplementary chamber 7c is provided, and the inlet pipe 15 is controlled by a plug cock 28 operated by the oscillation of the receptacle 7.
