Abstract

<PICT:0428073/III/1> Apparatus for testing milk, e.g. for the detection of mastitis, comprises a receptacle 11 having a cover 12 provided with areas of filtering material which is impregnated with one or more colourchange indicators. The cover may for example have four flanged openings 15 in which are inserted filter elements consisting of discs 17 of muslin impregnated with bromocresol purple or bromo-thymol blue which are provided with rims 16 of waterproofed card. Alternatively the cover may be composed of a layer of muslin secured between two layers of waterproofed card which are cut away to expose portions of the muslin. The cover may be painted black to show up flakes in the milk.
