Abstract
427,137. Converting. KRAMOLIN, L. L. DE, 25, Nassauischestrasse, Wilmersdorf, Berlin. March 2, 1934, No. 6739. Convention date, March 7, 1933. [Class 38 (ii)] The discharge device d in a converting arrangement is provided with two grids c, g to which are applied phase displaced voltages the amplitude of at least one of which can be varied so as to displace the phase of the resultant field and thus vary the moment of ignition. The phase displaced voltages are obtained from a potentiometer k supplied from a transformer tr, phase displacement being obtained by a condenser i and a choke h. Rotation of the arm increases the amplitude of one voltage and decreases the amplitude of the other voltage. The choke h may be replaced by a resistance and the transformer tr may be omitted. The Specification states that three grids fed with three phase displaced voltages may be used, the grid control voltages may be obtained by means of a discharge tube as shown in Fig. 4, the voltages being obtained from between the electrodes o, p and n, p. The magnitudes of these voltages are varied by turning the tube in one direction or the other. In another modification the voltages are obtained from across resistances connected in the anode circuits of saturated diodes the filament supplies of which are varied simultaneously.
