Abstract
426,999. Automatic circuit-breakers. LEYHAUSEN, W., 79, Bucherstrasse, Nuremberg, Germany. Oct. 18, 1934, No. 29824. Convention date, Oct. 18, 1933. [Class 38 (v)] An electromagnetically tripped automatic overload circuit-breaker has contacts a, b arranged in the space between the two coils c, d, insulating barriers c<1>, d<1> of refractory material separating the coils and the contacts. The coils c, d besides exerting a magnetic blow-out action, act as tripping magnets by attracting a core f, the core being attached to a bell-crank tripping lever g. A magnetic frame e is provided to complete the magnetic circuit of the coils c, d and, if desired, a portion of such frame or yoke may be constituted by portions of the tripping levers. If desired, tripping cores may be provided in both electromagnets c, d. Fig. 3 shows the actuating mechanism for the movable bridging contact u which includes a collapsable toggle h, i between an operating link l engaged by a pin x on the operating handle z and a spring-controlled bell-crank k, p attached to the vertically movable contact rod t. When the parts are moved to the closed position shown in dotted lines, attraction of the core f carried by the tripping lever g causes the latter to engage the link h and break the toggle, thus automatically opening the circuit-breaker. If desired, a stationary core may be mounted within the tripping magnet or magnets to which the movable plunger is adapted to be attracted.
