[Class 40 (iv)] A hygienic device for telephone receivers or transmitters comprises a cap 3 of paper or fabric impregnated with an antiseptic, metal foil, metallic gauze, celluloid, rubber, &c., the cap having a crimped flange 4 as shown in Fig. 1 so as to grip the earpiece of the receiver. The front of the cap may be provided with perforations or scores 5, Fig. 2, to facilitate local tearing so as to indicate that the device has been used. According to a modification, Figs. 3 and 4, (not shown), the cap is held in place by elastic cords. Figs. 6 and 7 show a further modification in which the device 3 is shaped to conform to the wall 10 of the earpiece and is provided with a projection 11 adapted to engage in the central hole 9 in the earpiece.
