424,138. Lawn-mowers. FLEMING, J. M., Grangehurst, Lynton Park, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, and BARNES, W. H., 9, Badminton Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester. Aug. 16, 1933, No. 22842. [Class 6 (ii)] [See also Group XXXIV] The cutting-cylinder shaft A of a lawn-mower is provided with a ball bearing at each end comprising a cup - shaped pressed-steel ball race G, rigidly fixed to the shaft, and a sleeve D secured by set-screws within a housing b integral with the side plate B. Except for a coned end d the sleeve has a plain peripheral surface throughout its length and it is adjustably but tightly fitted in the housing, the shaft A being free to rotate in the sleeve. The ball race G is fixed to the shaft by the method described in Specification 389,183. The bearing is adjusted by sliding the sleeve D in the housing b and clamping it in position by the set-screws. The bar of the mower carrying the bottom blade is mounted on pivot bolts and secured when adjusted by bolts passing through an edge extension of the bar.
