Abstract

422,182. Coke-oven doors. FORSANS, P. E. H., 78, Rue Legendre, Paris. April 3, 1933, No. 9987. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 3, 1933]. [Class 123 (i)] [See also Group XII] A coke-oven door, secured without luting, comprises a cover 1 enclosing a fireproof lining 2 attached to a cover plate 12 which is extended to form grooves 5 filled with a packing 6 of asbestos cord or the like. The door frame 7, which is secured by plastic jointing 8 to the oven walls 3, is formed with two or more flanges 15 between which are spaces 17 which act as resistance chambers, and as condensation chambers for the tars carried in the gases. In Fig. 4, a metallic packing 24 is mounted with asbestos packing 25 in the groove 5, and is pressed by springs 26 against the flanges 9, 10. The cover 1, Figs. 8 and 10, is reinforced at the outside by ribs 33, 34, 35, and the lining may be supported by brackets 18, 37 which, with horizontal flanges 38, assist in supporting the lining 2, and distributing its weight. The door is supported by a member 43 adjustable along a bracket 44, and is pressed by hand wheels 53 and levers 48, which engage under the door frame, against the latter.
