Abstract
422,166. Discharge apparatus. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London. May 29, 1934, No. 15996. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1933. [Class 39 (i)] The metal shield for the anode of an arc converter, such as a rectifier, is provided about the anode head with a lining of insulating bars, e.g. of silite, quartz, porcelain or sintered aluminium oxide, which lie against the walls of the tube and are substantially parallel to the arc. An anode shield 2 of a mercury rectifier is fitted with a flanged inner tube 2<a> Bars 4 are held at their ends in holes in the anode insulator 3 and in the flange of the tube 2<a>. Additional groups of bars 5, 6 are arranged in parallel planes and perpendicular to one another, and are held at their ends in apertures in the tube 2a.
