[Class 44] [See also Group VII] A strap fastening comprises a sheet metal plate 22 bent at one end with open hook form for engagement with the cross bar 17 of a buckle member 15, which adjustably engages one end of a strap 20, and of hook or eye form at the other end for engagement with a link 26 of eye or hook form carried by the other end of the strap or by another strap. The hooked end of the plate may be slotted at 25, Fig. 1, to accommodate a spike, such as 18, on the cross bar of the buckle, the slot, if desired, being so disposed as to leave a connecting piece at the end of the hooked portion. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which projections 32 are formed in the plate for engaging the surface of the strap whilst, in a further modification, strap-engaging teeth are formed on the hook extremity 28. The fastening may be applied to a buckle comprising a slide of channel section, and a cross bar carrying a catch plate for holding a strap passing through the buckle.
