421,528. Propelling aircraft. LOFTHEIM, T. B., Vinderen, near Oslo, Norway. March 20, 1933, No. 8409. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 7, 1934]. [Classes 4 and 114] [See also Groups XXVI and XXXIV] A device for propelling aircraft comprises a rotary pointed body with blades 2 and which is bounded at its base by a concave wall 17. The edges of the blades are either straight or curved and the blade core is either cylindrical or conical. In a modification two sets of blades are mounted on one core, and either end of the body can be closed by shutters which form the wall 17. The shutters 20, Fig. 9, are pivoted and the two sets can be operated together so that one set opens as the other closes. In a variation the shutters are moved radially. The body may be enclosed in a. casing or the wall 17 may be surrounded by a spiral casing with a tangential outlet. In a variation shorter blades are provided between the blades 2.
