Abstract
420,995. Air cleaners. DOUGLAS, J., Douglas Works, Douglas Road, Kingswood, Bristol. July 24, 1933, Nos. 20787 and 20788. [Class 8 (ii)] [See also Groups II and XXXIV] An air cleaner for an internal-combustion engine &c., has a tangential air inlet tube 5 and coaxial filter gauzes 6, 8 through which the air passes to the axial outlet 3 and to the carburetter; dust thrown centrifugally outwards collects in an exit gulley 10. Oil mist may be drawn from the engine crank case through a pipe 9 by the air flow, the oil being delivered either to the filter chamber, where it wets the gauzes, or to the carburetter inlet, and passing to the engine, where it serves for upper cylinder lubrication.
