Abstract

420,551. Furniture joints. GARSON, L., and GARSON, J., Ford Body Works, Trafford Park, Manchester. Nov. 1, 1933, No. 30308. [Class 52 (ii)] Means for connecting members of a bedstead or other articles of furniture in which one member 12 is of wood or relatively soft material, comprise a block 18, preferably of metal, inserted into the wooden member, and having a transverse passage 19 for the reception of a projecting part 13 of the other member 10, and a hole 20 for a securing member, such as a cone headed screw 24, intercepting the transverse passage, the securing member being adapted to draw the projecting part 13 into the passage 19 to clamp the members together. As shown, the hole 20 is formed with a cylindrical mouth, a conical part, and a screw-threaded part. The aperture in the part 13 is elongated and chamfered at the outer end to conform to the conical screw 24. A face plate 26, apertured for the reception of the projection 13, may be located between the members 10 and 12.
