Abstract
419,894. Colour kinematography. FRANCITA, SOC. DE FILMS EN COULEURS NATURELLES, 29, Avenue de l'Opera, Paris. July 28, 1933, Nos. 21312 and 21313. Convention dates, Aug. 1, 1932 and July 3, 1933. [Class 97 (i).] In a method of taking three-colour kinematograph pictures, two images corresponding to the red and green colour records are taken simultaneously from the same viewpoint by means of two objectives, a light-dividing system and a red and a green filter on two diagonally arranged portions of a single image area on a standard film and the third image is taken through a blue filter on a free space in the same image area at a subsequent exposure. Between the exposures the film is fed by half the height of one frame. Apparatus for carrying out the process comprises two objectives 9, 10, Fig. 4; a shutter disc 16 having at one side of the centre two concentric circular apertures provided with a red filter 17 and a green filter 18 and diametrically opposite the filter 18 an aperture covered by a blue filter 19; and a light dividing system in front of the objectives consisting of an apertured mirror 11 and a complete mirror 14. For projecting the resulting film an objective is used consisting of three parts 25, 26, 27, Fig. 9, having their optical centres m<1>, n<1>, p<1> arranged at the angles of a right-angled triangle corresponding to the triangle m, n, p formed by the centres of the images on the film. Filters similar to the taking filters are arranged over the parts of the objective. To enable the parts 25, 26 to be adjusted each is held in a mount 32 and secured to a flange 34 by rivets 38 passing through slots 43. The part 27 is similarly mounted on two rivets 39, all the rivets being screw-threaded so that the parts can be held in adjusted position by means of nuts. The gaps between the parts may be filled in e.g. with putty.
