419,711. Steam traps. GERDTS, G. F., 31, Markusallee, Bremen, Germany. April 13, 1934, Nos. 11231 and 11232. Convention dates, April 13, 1933 and July 25, 1933. [Class 64 (ii).] In a steam trap having a cover g<1> wholly or in part of transparent material for observing the operating parts of the trap, the cover is of bell shape and encircles the valve member so that light reaches the valve from the sides. The cover is fixed in position and pressed against elastic packing by means of a screw engaging a crossbar k. In a modification, the crossbar is replaced by a bolt l, Fig. 3, which also serves as a support for a sleeve o carrying the operating parts of the valve. The cover may be of metal and is then provided with windows or lenses g<11>, Fig. 5. The inner walls of the cover and the walls of the trap near its opening may be enamelled.
