Abstract

419,571. Cases for bottles. HUNTER, W. T., 3500, West Lake Street, Chicago, U.S.A. Feb. 2, 1934, No. 3514. [Class 18.] A sheet-metal case for packing bottles has end walls hinged at 22 so as to give access to the interior, and each end is secured when closed by a bail member 29 pivoted at 28 in groove 31 at the top of each side of the case. In the closed position the bail member 29 rests on the upper part of a rectangular rib 24 formed on the end wall. Rivet heads fixed along the upper edge of each end wall receive the pressure of the bail member. The body of the case has strengthening-ribs 18, 32, a pivoted handle 33 folding into a recess 35, and projections 36 on the top fitting into corresponding holes in the bottom of a superimposed case for stacking. Shelves for holding and spacing the bottles are fixed in the case and are shaped to receive the bodies and necks of the bottles, which are alternately reversed in each row, and staggered in relation to the row above or below. The bottles rest upon small ribs 45, 47 formed both longitudinally and transversely on the grooved shelves. Specification 420,949 is referred to.
